P1.5 Million shabu nabbed amidst COVID

The business-as usual mode of illegal drug peddlers in Dumaguete city did not prove well with the arrest and confiscdation of P1.5Million worth of illegal drugs in a buy bust operation in Mangnao upon a high profile suspect.

A high-value target was arrested by the Special Operations Group of the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office, Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

Police Lieutenant Allen Jun Germodo sa NOPPO identified the suspect as Ronald “Joven Bayot” Ordonia, 41, of Siaton, Negros Oriental.

Germodo said Ordonia was arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mangnao, Dumaguete City, at 2pm. The suspect has been in police monitoring for some time.

Police recovered 42 medium size sachet of suspected shabu worth P1.49 million; several checks worth P2.1 million and P1,556.25 cash; and money transfer receipts amounting to P2.2 million.

Germodo said Ordonia admitted that the contrabands came from a certain Kevin of Barangay Calindagan. They have also sought help from the Anti-Money Laundering Council to check on Ordonia’s recent bank transactions.

Investigators are also looking into the suspects involvement with a drug personality based in Barangay Zbalugo, Valencia.

Ordonia has been reported to supply drugs in Dumaguete City, Siaton, and neighboring localities. (By Ryan Cris Sorote)
