Orthodox donates P3M to town Catholic church

Orthodox donates
A practicing Orthodox from Greece who now lives in Germany with his Filipina friend from Bindoy has donated P3-million to the parish of Bindoy with the acknowledgment of Bishop Julito Cortes, to help the poor families and give meaning to life. He is retired engineer Konstantin Skodras. Receiving the donation are Parish Priest Ireneo Ruiz and Diocesan Aeconomus Lyndon Zerna.Mr. Skodras is at center of photo.

BINDOY – Two years ago, Mr. Konstantin Skodras visited the Philippines for the first time, especially Negros Oriental island. The warm-hearted people with their kindness and hospitality impressed him particularly.

But he also noticed massive poverty and hopelessness, he saw kids that have no chance to find the right way and also young people, most of them are unemployed and doesn’t havezzz any direction for their future.

“It touched me so much”, Mr. Skodras said, “that I had to think about all the time, how could I help”.

Thanks to the help and guidance of God and my parents who allowed me to live a contented and godly life. As the Bible says: “Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away” (Matthew 5:42) relieved me to decide to mitigate these abuses.

With my donation about P 3.000.000 I’ll start together with Fr. Ireneo Ruiz several charity projects in his parish in Bindoy that should help especially the kids and young people to improve their future prospects. We will buy tables, chairs, window screens, toys, educational materials for the children of Cabugan Day Care Center.

But this is only the beginning. With the help of God, I’ll do my very best to persuade other companies and persons in Germany to support this idea through their donation.
