NegOr-DOST scholars immerse in Filipino patriot projects

Sixty-eight ongoing undergraduate scholars of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) based in Negros Oriental went to 10 selected barangays in Cebu City on February 25-26, 2020 as part of “The Filipino Patriot Scholars Project” launched at Waterfront Hotel & Casino, Cebu City with around 200 Cebu-based DOST scholars.

During the immersion period, the scholars were able to learn, understand and develop possible solutions on issues about women, men, senior citizens, youth, LGBTQIA and PWDs. The formation program aimed to indoctrinate the core values of professional excellence, social responsibility and servant leadership among its scholars. There were also workshops which featured a series of engaging modules and activities that allowed the participants to interact with their co-scholars.

Dr. Josette T. Biyo, DOST-SEI (Science Education Institute) Director, emphasized on the important role of DOST scholars in contributing to the inclusive national development especially on S&T human resources.

Among the Negros Oriental-based scholars who attended the 2-day formation program included students from Negros Oriental State University (NORSU), Silliman University (SU) and Foundation University (FU). (Engr. Joel O. Legaspi/DOST Neg. Or. PSTC Media Service)
