The husband who killed his pregnant wife in a fit of jealousy was rushed to the hospital after he attempted to commit suicide while incarcerated in the Dumaguete City Police Station.
Supt. Jonathan Pineda said that the suspect, Ronald Montesor of Barangay Malaunay, Valencia who was arrested after killing his wife Verginia in her sleep, hanged himself inside the comfort room of the detention cell.
His fellow inmates and police officers rushed to his rescue and managed to bring him to the hospital. The attending physicians admitted Montesor to the Intensive Care Unit for being in critical condition.
It was learned that the couple was engaged in a serious dispute. They tried to save their marriage by undergoing counseling and stayed at a residence near the Seventh Day Adventist Church in San Jose Extension, Dumaguete City.
Upon seeing the lifeless body of his sister-in-law, the suspect’s brother promptly summoned for police assistance. The victim, who was eight months pregnant, worked as a public school teacher assigned in the remote Barangay of Dobdob in Valencia.
