Elected officials across the province have been sowrn into office by sundown today, and are ready to assume their posts tomorrow, July 1.
On Friday, it was the turn of the Dumaguete City officials led by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to take their oaths in front of the historic and restored Old Presidencia Building before a large crowd of supporters, teachers, uniformed personnel, barangay officials, government employees and ordinary citizens.
A week earlier, a mass oath taking was also held at a private resort in Bacong administered by Judge Gerardo Paguio Jr. for the elected provincial, city and municipal officials belonging to the Liberal Party, Nationalist People’s Coalition and PDP Laban.
Representatives Josy Limkaichong (1st District), Manuel Sagarbarria (2nd District) and Arnie Teves (3rd District) took their oaths first, followed by Vice-Governor Mark Macias, Board Members, mayors, vice-mayors and councilors.
Today, Governor Roel Degamo and other elected officials in the 25 cities and municipalities of the province, who are members of the Nacionalista Party will also take their oaths of office at the provincial convention center.
