The Provincial Board is expected to approve on Tuesday the P 7.2 million supplemental budget requested by Governor Roel R. Degamo after both parties met behind closed doors Thursday morning to reconcile their disagreements on the appropriations.
During the June 10 special session of the Provincial Board, Vice-Governor Jun Aranaiz refused to discuss the supplemental budget, prompting Board Member Angelo Teves to register his most vehement objection for he wanted the measure to be voted upon after it was bypassed twice already.
Governor Degamo sent Provincial Administrator Arnel Francisco to explain before the members of the Board the wisdom and necessity of the appropriation for their appreciation and favorable action.
A source from the Provincial Budget Office confirmed that the P 7.2 million supplemental budget does not include wages for Job Order workers dozens of whom have yet to receive their compensation while their superiors are looking for funds.
Francisco said that the P 7.2 million supplemental budget is intended to provide fresh funds for the government’s scholarship program, medical assistance and aid to persons in “crisis situation.”
The Provincial Board Secretariat confirmed that the supplemental budget has been calendared for discussion and debates during the regular session on Tuesday. (by Dems Demecillo)
