The family of a 12-year-old girl from Cabangahan, Siaton is asking authorities to locate the whereabouts of one of their elders, who allegedly raped the child while she was fetching water recently. She was rushed to the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital for massive bleeding and needed blood transfusion to save her life.
The distraught mother confided that her unschooled child, the eldest in a brood of five, and who is apparently in a state of shock, refuses to talk in front of strangers, but in one private moment, revealed the perpetrator by nodding her head indicating that the uncle of her mother forcibly undressed and raped her.
At first, when she arrived home bleeding, her mother thought she was already having her menstruation, but was alarmed when she continued to bleed until the family decided to bring her to the hospital with the laboratory results indicating spermatozoa in her vagina and a torn hymen.
The family has already sought and received aid from Board Member Edmund Dy, but they are still appealing for other government officials to extend financial aid for their medical bills as she continues to be confined in the hospital for almost a week now. They are unsure if the alleged perpetrator has already escaped.
