The second Saturday of September traditionally marks World
First Aid Day- an occasion to highlight the lifesaving impor
tance of first aid.
The Philippine Red Cross leads the celebration of National First Aid Month this September and World First Aid Day on September 8. Both events share the aim of increasing public awareness of first aid and injury prevention and underscore the importance and advantage of possessing knowledge on how to administer first aid and thereby minimize the impact and prevent the adverse effect of a health emergency.
This year’s theme is “First Aid for Vulnerable People.” First aid is a humanitarian act that should be accessible to all. With first aid skills, volunteers and communities are empowered to save lives without discrimination.
The local Red Cross will hold a “First Aid Variety Show” that would showcase the different techniques and skills of First Aid. This will be at the Quezon Park from 8 o’clock in the morning until 5 o’clock in the afternoon. Everyone is invited to join the activity.
As we celebrate National First Aid Month, let us endeavor to acquire basic knowledge on first aid provision, keeping in mind that the life we save may be our own or that of a loved one.
