Dumaguete is a principal class-1 airport. Very soon, after a public hearing here on June 16, following a similar public hearing in Tagbilaran on June l5, airport terminal fees will be increased from the old P30 to P150, considering the expanded ATO airline facilities for the public.
The new tarmac is 70 meters x 100 meters wide with 12 inches thick of cement to accommodate the parking of heavy planes. Contractor is the Ves Construction Corp. under Gerardo Belicaria, according to airport manager Veronica Sayson-Chuang.
The airport now services five daily flights to and from Manila. Latest to apply for resumption of flights here is Air Philippines. PAL and Cebu Pacific are having a total of 4 daily Manila flights plus one for Cebu.
