Thousands of spectators are expected to converge
today along the Rizal Boulevard to witness the
GUD Motorized Banca competition as Dumaguete celebrates today its annual fiesta.
On the other hand, Barangay Cadawinonan bested two other barangays during the Sandurot Festival Street Dancing and Showdown at the City Hall Quadrangle.
The champion, Barangay Cadawinonan, also earned major awards as Best in Street Dancing and Showdown, and minor awards as Best in Costume, Best in Choreography, and the Sandurot Queen, while the Sandurot King was won by the representative from Barangay Bajumpandan.
Second place went to Bajumpandan and third place to Barangay Tinago. City Tourism Officer Woodrow Maquiling Jr. said this year’s Sandurot Festival Champion received P 50,000; second place P 30,000 and third place winner P 20,000. Being the Champions, the Cadawinonan contingent will represent the city during the Buglasan Festival next year.
