Apparently confused and in fear, Herman Escora (right) finds difficulty in
responding to the questions of Associate Provincial Prosecutor Rav
Rocamora in an attempt to confirm the statements in his Affidavit of Recantation
made in front of another provincial prosecutor.
Escora essentially recanted
all his earlier assertions
as to who were responsible
in the alleged slay
attempt of Bayawan
Councilor Victoriano
Alabastro claiming that his
earlier admissions were extracted
after he was mauled
by his captors and aggravated
by the news that his
wife and daughters were
missing.
They were later found to
be alive and well and sought
the assistance of Bayawan
Councilor Abaydan Aurelia,
who presented his family for
reunion in his detention
quarters. However, Deputy
Provincial Director Supt.
Alet Virtucio said that they
are ready to summon certain
media personalities who interviewed
Escora following
his arrest to strengthen their
case against the suspects recently
arrested in connection
to the Alabastro slay try.
He believes that positive
identification will overcome
the impact of Escora’s recantation.
