Ostensibly out of fear of being manhandled by relatives and bystand
ers of his victim, an American national fled after the speeding pickup
truck he was driving ran over a teenager in Tugas, Tanjay recently.
The impact sent the 16-
year old teenager flying before
crashing down to the
paved road to the shock of
bystanders most of whom
are on their way home after
attending a benefit dance.
Most of the witnesses
thought the victim was
dead, as he lay motionless.
Nevertheless, the boy was
rushed to the hospital where
he was revived. The culprit,
68-year-old Lewis Edward
Lanpher decided not to stop
after hitting the victim for
fear of his life; instead he
stepped on the gas and submitted
himself to the Amlan
Police Station.
He was briefly chased
by angry bystanders but
gave up only after they took
note of the plate number of
his Nissan Pick-up truck
FDP 995.
