Lake Balinsasayao of Sibulan
There
is nothing like staring straight into the clear vastness of
a tranquil atmo sphere to drive any unwanted emotions away.
The embrace of the mountain ranges, the comforting cuddle
of the trees, and best of all, the soothing mirror-like surface
of two lakes, also known as Lake Balinasasayo and Lake Danao.
Lakes Balinasasayao and Danao are contained in two adjacent
calderas, 1,000 meters above sea level. Both lakes are separated
by a ridge, 20 meters wide and are surrounded completely by
a vast, lush, permanent forest cover on Guintabon, Kabalin-an,
and Guinsayawan mountain ranges. These mountain ranges actually
seve as protection dikes to the lakes.
Of
the two, Lake Balinasasayao is bigger in terms of surface
area, at 76.25 hectares. Lake Danao shrinks at 30 hectares.
Murky as it is, even up close, Lake Balinasasayao reaches
80 meters in depth while the Lake Danao water level is approximately
10.04 inches higher.
With no visible outlet, both
lakes have held up to 77,600 cubic meters of green, turbid
water guaranteed to make anyone weak-at-heart fell adistinct
eeriness.
Come
nightfall, settle in your tents or build a cozy campfire and
share stories while nature listens. Hop on a motorized outrigger
if you must and gaze at the pinpricks of lights in the sky
while floating around in the middle of the lake.
Day time offers one a glimpse of the lakes' high degree of
biodiversity as the place is considered a natural habitat
for rare wildlife, bird, and tree species like the bleeding
heart pigeon and tree fern.
Lakes
Balinsasayao and Danao are approzimately 18 kilometers from
Sibulan poblacion. It can easily be accessed through Lala-an,
Sibulan or, if you prefer, Camabaloctot, San Jose.
Take a trip to every contemplative
soul's heavens and stare deep into the eyes of nature.
