of three hot sealed sachets,
two of which contained
shabu along with P 900.00
cash. The drug suspects are
charged for violation of Republic
Act 9165 and are detained
at the Dumaguete PNP
station.
Young businessman dies
five days after shooting
The young businessman-operator of Bizhub.com who was shot on June 21 just
outside his residence in Barangay Candau-ay, Dumaguete City succumbed
to his gunshot wounds and expired on Wednesday, June 25, at 8:00 in the
evening while being treated at the Silliman University Medical Center Foundation
Inc.
Authorities identified the victim as Prem J. Fernadez who was driving his
volkswagen when he was waylaid by unidentified suspects just outside the gate of his residence after he
arrived at about 8:10pm and
was shot six times. Although
wounded, the victim tried to
escape from his killers and
caught the attention of his
cousin who brought him to
the hospital. He was in a
critical condition due to the
gunshot wounds in different
parts of his body. Lawmen
vowed to identify and arrest
the killers of Fernandez.
Lady junk shop owner
robbed on high noon
Three unidentified men robbed a lady junk shop owner in broad daylight in
Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan town, Tuesday noon. Police identified the victim
as 41-year-old Adolta Valiente, married, and owner of RD Junk Shop. She
just arrived at the shop after withdrawing cash from Metrobank. But as soon
as she stepped out from her vehicle the armed suspects accosted her and
declared hold-up.
Valiente tried to resist the robbers but she was hit by a .45 caliber pistol
several times until her bag containing P 100,000 cash, Nokia cellphone 1100
and other important documents was taken from her. The suspects escaped using
a black Honda Wave motorcycle but witnesses and the victim failed to get the
plate number.
Cabanag: Drug personalities
in “order of battle” watched
Dumaguete City PNP Chief of Police Supt. Leopoldo Cabanag has ordered a
24-hour surveillance on known drug personalities despite the notable decline
in the number of anti-drugs operations in the past weeks. Cabanag said that
he is certain that those involved in the illegal drugs trade are just lying low at
the moment and are waiting for the opportune time to carry out their activities.
However, he assured the public that the authorities are strictly monitoring
the movements of these criminals. The intelligence community also identified
the barangays that are favorite havens of drug pushers and users namely Looc,
Luke Wright, Calindagan, Cadawinonan and Batinguel.
“Bukas-kotse” gang hits
as victim takes snacks
It took them just a few minutes to open the car and take the valuables of a lady
victim who stopped for refreshments at a store in Meciano Road, Dumaguete
City, at about 8:40 Wednesday, morning. Forty-five year old Marijun V. Virtucio
of Cimafranca, Barangay Bantayan sought police assistance after unidentified
suspects allegedly opened her car and took her bag which contains cash and
other valuables.
The incident occurred along Meciano Road where Virtucio parked her Toyota
Revo in front of CGM Store to take some refreshments. However, upon her return
she discovered that the car has been opened and the leather bag with P 53,000
cash, silver bracelet, Nokia 6101 cellphone, Nokia 6300 cellphone and ATM
cards already missing. The investigators are still trying to identify the suspects
who are believed to be residents in the said place.
