Silliman University is relentless in its pursuit of the arrest of the suspects responsible for the murder of one of its students who was the latest victim in the upsurge of violence in this University town.
SU President Dr. Ben Malayang III promised both protection and legal aid to students who will stand as witnesses to the robbery and murder of 2nd Year Mass Communications student Jayfel Rayoso. Malayang gave this assurance following a meeting with Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office Deputy Director Supt. Alet Virtucio.
The PNP agreed that their investigators will conduct their interview with the students invited for questioning inside the University while those who will have to testify in court must be given police protection.
Malayang clarifies that no student from Silliman University has been implicated in the gruesome murder of Rayoso. At the same time, the University will hold awareness seminars for their students in a bid to teach them how to avoid being targeted by criminal elements.
Dumaguete City Mayor Agustin Perdices declares that the city remains safe for students even for visitors but urges both victims and witnesses to ensure that their assailants be prosecuted and convicted before the court as this is the most effective way to dissuade would be criminals.
The Bacong PNP, the Dumaguete City PNP and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group have decided to conduct a joint investigation to apprehend those responsible in the murder of Rayoso who went missing on January 7 and whose decomposing remains were found dumped in Barangay Isugan, Bacong one week later. i think all these killings will only stop if people will accept the fact that things not intended to us by God will never ever be in our hands and we keep pushing it we will end up like a dead rat on the street or slain like dogs.Life is precious and money is not a good cause to put up arms and start bragging like stupid idiots.We can smile and laugh and hide our true feelings but the truth is. If we value money more than our lives we will lose our loved ones, our friends, our sisters, borhters and hell the worst thing to lose is our parents… heck where the hell are they?
