The city of Dumaguete, and the province of Negros Oriental once again celebrate February as National Arts Month through a month-long array of arts and performing events dubbed as Kisaw 2010: Magmugna ta! with the theme “Handulantaw: Pagdugtong sa Handumanan sa Pagpanglantaw sa Unahan”. This year’s theme, according to Kisaw organizer Dessa Quesada-Palm, “creates a conversation between works created from our past and how they continue to be of relevance to our realities today, or conversely, how contemporary works seek to draw insight from our history and heritage.”
Supported by the Dumaguete City government, the Dumaguete City Tourism Office, Sky Cable, and the Bayawan City CF! Bayawanihan Technical Working Group, and organized by the Youth Advocates Through Theater Arts, this year’s celebration will feature the talents of many more schools, artists, organizations and communities.
Kisaw will open with an opening parade on the 7th of February 7 at 4pm, and the events throughout the month will include Tayada sa Plaza every Sunday, Hugis ug Dibuho, Puting Tabing sa Parke, Balak, Balitaw ug uban pa sa Boulevard, Huni sa Kampanaryo, Kultura, Lainlaing Pasundayag ug Ekshibit.
