CRITICAL REPORTING
by: ELY P. DEJARESCO
The office of the President , if not the president himself or herself, since time immemorial, from Garcia, Macapagal, Marcos, Cory, FVR, Erap, and now GMA, have been the favorite whipping boy or girl in their successor’s bid to take over Malacanang after their time.
The truth of the matter is that they are overly zealous if not jealous of how beautiful it might be at the top. Or is it? They say it’s lonely up there, but there must be something nice that compensates and makes life beautiful up there, we wonder what it is. That is why many are dying to try their luck at the presidency, if not, then at least in the areas that surround and are around the presidency.
It is always nice to be hanging around the kitchen where food is always hot and abundant. It’s damn if you do, and damn if you don’t by Gloria Arroyo on the Ampatuan case. If she helps allies in Maguindanao who helped get a zero vote for FJR, she was damned. If she distances herself from her allies who help in the last elections, she will also be damned as she is being damned now.
Let’s just say that when you get to be president, you’ll soon become the national political whipping boy as they did to the 2 women. Even some of his allies now, once he wins, will be among the opposition if they fail to get what they want from the cookie jar. Moratorium for women presidents now.
Two of the 8 LP senatoriables told us on air that even if Noynoy kono were not the son of Ninoy and Cory, the LP will still endorse him as president. Would you believe that? Definitely shocking . Maybe you do. LP motto: “Kung walang Corrupt, walang mahirap.” Translation: once corruption is gone, so will poverty be. Problem is: corruption won’t be gone, and so will poverty. Minimized, yes.
Eliminated, no. This is a very unrealistic and counter productive motto some believe.
NEWS: Tuting Perdices for vice governor and Dodo Macias for governor, are together in supporting Noynoy this election. But both said, they are not supporting all LP senatoriables how much more local LPs. Since when did these people not become partytmen? Just this elections. Ask them why.
Before, they were all for one, one for all. Today, most of them are now one and one for me and another one for me, none for you, so vote for me. Uy, maa’y ra ba ron, — says an old Dumagueteno expression.
