HEALTH IS WEALTH
“God breathe into the soul of man and he lives.” – Holy Scripture
All health authorities emphasize breathing as one of the secrets and most important factor in the mind-body method of healing. This is especially true if you’re using the relaxation process like in yoga.
It is a fact that proper breathing alone can produce an enormous calming and relaxing effect. The big problem is that many of us have forgotten how to breath properly or perhaps, never learned really how to breathe.
Infants breath naturally when they sleep. Their breathing is not from their upper chest as most adults do, but all of them breathe through their diaphragm, way down in their stomachs (a deep abdominal breathing).
As the person grows older, he learns to hold his breath in his chest. This is because people think that they look better and compensate by shifting their breathing to their chest. But authorities claim that this kind of breathing is unnatural and a bad habit for it has an unhealthy consequence.
Psychologists say that many stress-related ailments are caused by improper breathing. The way we breathe has a profound effect on the way we feel.
Fortunately, many complaints can be reversed simply by learning to breath properly.
Scientific study found that chest breathers are more susceptible to heart attacks than people who relearn from their diaphragm.
A disturbing study revealed that almost all the 153 heart attack patients conducted at the Methodist Hospital in Minneapolis, USA were primarily chest breathers.
Hence diaphragmatic breathing is the secret to deep healing mediation. It increases the level of endorphins – the natural pain-killing chemical produced in our body.
Many doctors presently encourage their patients to practice diaphragmatic breathing techniques before they undergo surgery. The results show that these patients experience less postoperative pains, require less medication, have fewer complications, and recover much faster.
Breathing is one of the body’s important functions. We can control and use as a powerful aid to healing. So, be consistent and practice properly the diaphragmatic breathing until it becomes easy and automatic – to get the full benefits of mind-body healing. Get it, man?
