Basay Vice-mayor Nono Amorgiente managed to defend himself from fresh allegations that he is engaged in illegal mining activities at the former CDCP site.
Earlier, citing “reliable information from indigenous people” the Euzkadi Holdings Corporation through its Corporate Secretary Geraldo Ranes wrote the Chair of the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board accusing the “Vice-mayor of Basay of resuming his illegal mining activities” in the area designated for the company.
The letter demanded from the Capitol immediate and prompt attention to their compliant by putting up measures to stop the alleged illegal mining activities in the area.
However, when probed by the Provincial Mining Regulatory Board led by Provincial Attorney Erwin Vergara, Armogiente produced a socalled “Special permit to disperse materials” issued by the Capitol allowing him to remove spillage and waste materials, which after all are hazardous to health, from the old CDCP stockpile.
