Considering the huge expense and absence of a formidable administration gubernatorial wannabe in sight, Lakas coalition stalwarts in Negros Oriental are thinking of going nogovernor bet this time.
In fact for the first time in local history if the talks do not change, the administration will not have a local gubernatorial candidate in a Presidential election year! What does it mean? It means the old political foggies are now getting tired, \plus, with not enough younger wannabes in sight.
But what is the catch? The three Lakas solons namely Josy Limkaichong, Henry Pryde Teves and his lolo Meniong Teves, instead of spending lots of party money for any governatorial bet, might as well focus the campaign kitty mightily to Gibo Teodoro’s presidential bid, hoping he will win in Negros Oriental.
In an interview with local newsmen, Josy Limkaichong said that the local Lakas might coalesce with NPC with both parties backing up a common president in Gibo Teodoro in exchange for not putting up a Lakas gubernatorial bet. NPC has no presidential bet, anyway.
Meniong Teves said if he were to decide, he would rather focus on Gibo Teodoro for president here, rather than be distracted with a gubernatorial candidate of the party with no formidable-probable in sight, except maybe his son Gary, but who is aiming for the vice presidency.
Henry Pryde Teves said their hands are full in making sure their district mayors will win, so we can have a solid district in the future. It is better not to insist on a gubernatorial bet when there is no one formidable who is also passionately interested. Of course if this elusive man appears, the story might change.
Well, knowing that every presidential bet wants to post a point man in every province for his candidacy (like Gibo Teodoro) then perhaps the three congressmen can do it , with more focus, minus the burden or carrying a heavy gubernatorial load. Unless of course, there is a strong and highly probable candidate, who has not yet emerged until now.
Like Noynoy, we have a reluctant LP candidate in Ipe Remollo who is LP coordinator here. He might accept a gubernatorial slot for LP, firstly to carry Noynoy in the province, and secondarily, to carry himself as provincial standard bearer.
So that leaves a one-on-one matchup between Dodo and Petit. These are still fluid developments, just like the weather, it can change at the wink of an eye anytime…

not surprising!
personal interest first before others! besides, this will mean more money for the mayoralty campaign instead of supporting a lame duck for the governor’s race.
meaning, some money can go somewhere else also!
i hope somebody from the Teves clan will run for governor. we r sick and tired of this present administration. or at least a credible candidate that the teves clan and the 3rd district will truly support.
