The modern concept of “homosexuality” didn’t even exist in the centuries when the Bible was edited and put together by various committees. Kinsey wasn’t around to explain to St. Paul that sexual preference is a spectrum. Why rely on interpretations that are unscientific and hundreds of years out of date? The church has managed to move beyond its condoning of slavery, anti-Semitism and burning of witches. How many centuries do LGBT people have to wait until the Church or the right Pope comes around to suddenly “get it?”

I respect and like Father Tulabing…..but I often disagree with him
According to some Biblical scholars the passages in the Bible concerning this subject are subject to some debate. Many believe they do not so much condemn homosexuality as they preach against the other religions of the time that used sex as a tool to get money from followers / travelers. It was quite common for followers of some pagan religions to “sleep” with Priests and Priestesses.
There is also a strong indication that many homosexuals are born that way and have no choice in the matter. The argument over “nature” or “nurture”…..genetic or free choice…..or both ??? Will probably never be settled in my lifetime….. but I do know God has said, “Judge not less yee be judged”…..It is the Lords job to punish not mine….. All I ask is that people keep their private sex lives PRIVATE…. I will let the Lord decide who needs punishment and why

Gammy is at it again–bashing gay people in his typically unlettered fashion. While this is testimony to free speech, which should be defended, it is disturbing. As has appeared elsewhere in responses to Gammy’s article, being gay is not ‘wrong’ ‘a sin’ and so on. Being attracted to people of the same gender is just one healthy expression of human sexuality.

Liberal Christian denominations have already largely accepted homosexuality as simply another normal, natural, and morally neutral sexual orientation. The decades will pass and the Church’s position will change on this–it is just a question of time.

What is sad is that Gammy is producing this gay-bashing homophobic garbage, based on such notions as the need for human beings to reproduce. The huge problem of overpopulation becomes more serious daily in the world and in the Philippines. Only a few days ago I was up in the mountains not far from Dumaguete to visit. The young couple had seven children–more are on the way, I’m sure. They were dirty, didn’t look well, barefoot–what awaits them?

People in Manila are demonstrating against the current corrupt government.

Where is the Catholic Church in all of this? Why not care and write about caring for those seven children? Is the model for them to all marry by the time they are 18 (they surely will not find jobs), and, by the time they are 35, to each have ten children? Where and how should they live?

Why doesn’t Gammy write about such issues–issues of import?

In the United States, people who found Biblical justification for slavery and for not extending full civil liberties to Black people came to regret it. Wake up, Gammy! Get some education, find out what is happening in the world, care about our country! don’t simply be an uneducated, unlettered mouthpiece for your homophobic Church!

Surprise us! Advocate support of homosexuals as children of God and entitled to full civil rights; calls on government to approve measures giving homosexuals protections and benefits, and oppose any legislation that prohibits same-sex civil marriage or civil unions. Do this and you will be remembered fondly.

Kandy…. God’s first gift to man was “free will”….the ability to chose and make mistakes…. and hopefully to repent and adjust…. For me to tell others how to live their life is a violation of God’s gift….It is each individuals responsibility to make choices and to answer to God for those choices….
I have many friends who are gay….most of them are very “good” people…. While I may not approve of their choices…..it is their God given right….nee responsibility to make those choices….and NOT mine to judge or punish them

As to the charge of homosexuality being “unnatural”…. not sure that is accurate…..many of God’s creatures practice homosexuality…. there were two gay penguins that just became parents in a zoo ??? (they substituted an egg for the rock)…. many animals practice homosexuality??…. as to being against reproduction…. again not sure that is accurate…..homosexuality is more prevelent in large families….. it maybe “overpopulation” that triggers homosexuality…. some genetists feel having too many children causes a problem in the XY chromazome….a sort of “natural” population control…. ?????
I am not smart enough to know all the answers…..BUT
I do know being angry with each other….judging each other…..and punishing each other…..was never God’s intent

Fr Gammy’s views are excellent. I like his very intellectual presentations on different issues including about homosexuality. Of course what can you expect from homosexuals, especially those who act it out without qualms and fear of God’s punishment and wrath. Homosexuals who act it out should be burned in hell.Fr. Gammy’s biblical presentation on homosexuality is very very sound.Homosexuals just want to justify their own sinfulness. They pretend to be God-fearing but they have no respect for God. More power to Fr Gammy my idol.

This is so sad. Gammy has inspired Faithful, who no doubt earnestly believes Faithful is a ‘good’ Catholic, to wish that all homosexuals should burn in Hell. I wonder if Faithful believes all homosexuals should be rounded up, right now, here in the Philippines, and burned until they are dead? Shame on you, Gammy, for inspiring such hate! The above prove the power of inspiring hate in others. Please, dear Catholics and Christians and Atheists, and whoevers, concentrate on loving each other–love us all. Inspire warmth and love and caring. You will be better and we will be better, too. And, Gammy, please think again before writing the sort of messages you have been busy with. Why not, instead, write about how important it is to help the homeless, visit the sick, old, those in prison. And how we should all look deep inside ourselves and find radiant love and concern for others, rather than hate, which only encourages dehumanization.

Blue words represent Bible quotes

Babylon Is Fallen

“And, behold, here cometh a chariot of men, with a couple of horsemen. And he answered and said, Babylon is fallen, is fallen; and all the graven images of her gods he hath broken unto the ground.” (Isaiah 21:9)
Comment

Many soldiers have used Bible verses to justify horrific destruction against their enemy. Such beliefs can comfort the minds of men to do virtually any kind of atrocity against men, women, and children of the enemy. The Crusaders of the 12th century, slaughtered or tortured anyone who stood in their way. The Bible’s words gave them their justification.

Even today, our government, military and religious leaders judge wars as “moral” based on Biblical reasoning. Fighting men feel, not only comforted, but glorious in their actions against the destruction of fellow human beings. In the Gulf War, for example, an F-16 fighter/bomber had “Isaiah 21:9″ written on its bombs.

David Slaughters Them

“And he brought out the people that were in it, and cut them with saws, and with harrows of iron, and with axes…” (I Chronicles 20:3)
Comment

Chapters 17-19 (17-18-19) tells us that David killed 22,000 Syrians and that Abishai killed 18,000 Edomites. No one expresses shame at such slaughters.

Here in 20:3, we have David, counted as a great leader of the Israelites, slaughtering captives after the cessation of hostilities. From what high moral ground should we admire this action?

Decapitate Them!

“And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel. And the LORD said unto Moses, ‘Take all the heads of the people and hang them up before the LORD against the sun, that the fierce anger of the LORD may be turned away from Israel.’” (Numbers 25:3-4)
Comment

Those who worshipped other gods must die, and even more horribly, their heads displayed publicly. Either God never said anything so cruel, or we truly live in a cursed universe, ruled by a maniac Supreme Being.

Millions of people, today, switch their religions. If God had any interest in this ongoing process, there appears no evidence of this.

Gideon Slaughters

“And Gideon said, Therefore when the Lord hath delivered Zebah and Zalmunna into mine hand, then I will tear your flesh with the thorns of the wilderness and with briers” (Judges 8:7)

“Now Zebah and Zalmunna were Karkor, and their hosts with them, about fifteen thousand men, all that were left of all the hosts of the children of the east: for there fell an hundred and twenty thousand men that drew sword.” (Judges 8:10)
Comment

The Gideon Society places Bibles into motels and hotels across America. One would assume Gideon lived as a person of exemplary character and great worth to have a worldwide society named after him. Below describes some of Gideon’s accomplishments:

* Gideon slaughtered thousands in battle by plotting with the “Lord” to use Treachery.
* Gideon murdered thousands more for worshipping “false Gods.”
* Gideon tortured and killed still more for daring to taunt him.
* Gideon plundered the bodies of his victims (to fashion a jeweled priestly vestment).
* Gideon fathered an offspring who killed 69 of his stepbrothers.

Read the story of Gideon in Judges, chapters thru 6-9 ( 6-7-8-9). The tale of Gideon describes just one of the many horror stories in the Bible, a book that glorifies behavior abysmal to modern society. The clergy and leaders have hoodwinked millions of people about the stories in the Bible. Don’t let others decide for yourself.

God Buries Them Alive

“And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.” (Numbers 16:32-35)
Comment

Moses relays a sadistic threat that asks us to believe that God punishes members of families, including innocent infants. And again we have the Satanic fire coming from God burning his creations.

God Kills The Firstborns!

“And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle. And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead.” (Exodus 12:29-30)
Comment

If we believe every word in the Bible as coming from God, then it stands to reason that the violent actions from the God described in Exodus cannot give us a moral comparison to live our lives in a peaceful world.

If one wishes to believe that God possess love for His creations, then the killing of innocent children cannot possibly come from God, and therefore, these verses from the Bible must have come elsewhere. But note that if one takes the Bible’s words as absolute truth, then not only did God smote the firstborn children, but all firstborn regardless of age. This means all firstborn teenagers, firstborn men & women, firstborn octogenarians, and even all firstborn cows and bulls. Regardless of how much love, charity, or goodness they may have imparted to the world, if they had the unfortunate luck to have first passed through their mother’s vagina in the land of Egypt, according to the Bible, God killed them!

God Sends Pestilence

“Either three years’ famine; or three months to be destroyed before thy foes, while that the sword of thine enemies overtaketh thee; or else three days the sword of the LORD, even the pestilence, in the land, and the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the coasts of Israel…” (I Chronicles 21:12)

“So the LORD sent pestilence upon Israel: and there fell of Israel seventy thousand men.” (I Chronicles 21:14)
Comment

David made an offense against God in taking a census of the people, so God gave David a choice. Oddly enough, David ignores God and never actually gets around to making a choice; so the Lord makes the decision for him and sends pestilence upon Israel.

It appears unclear as to why David committed a crime, but why shouldn’t God have punished individual offenders instead of killing an army of innocent bystanders? Atrocities such as this appear outrageous enough when perpetrated by Attila the Hun, Hitler or Pol Pot, but when it comes from a, supposedly, loving God, it should make one wonder if this represents a Devil instead of a God.

God Slaughters Blacks

“And there came out against them Zerah the Ethiopian with an host of a thousand thousand, and three hundred chariots…” (II Chronicles 14:9)

So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled. (II Chronicles 14:12)
Comment

It appears that Black Christian Bible studies programs ignore these verses, for it says that the Lord God slaughtered over a million blacks.

The association of black with evil goes far back in Western Christian culture. The early Church fathers, Origen, Jerome, and Augustine of Hippo wrote about devils appearing as Ethiopians.

White racist groups (such as the Klu Klux Klan who think of themselves as opposite of black devils) see these Biblical verses as evidence to justify their beliefs. We still hear phrases such as “Prince of Darkness” or “Black magic” which link blackness with sin.

In the story of Ham and Japheth, the word “ham” has connotations of “hot” and “dark” in Semitic languages. To the ancient Israelites, as well as some modern Jews and Christians, the “children of Ham” had dark skin and lived in eastern Africa. Thus they see the “Curse of Ham” as a link with black skin and sexual license.

God’s Threat To Kill

“And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt: And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.” (Exodus 11:4-5)
Comment

After reading such verses, it would become apparent, even to a child, that this does not describe the actions of a loving Being. Anyone who reconciles the killing of innocent children with an intelligent and loving Creator can only come from great ignorance under the addiction of blind faith.

“Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and tortuous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize humankind.”

–Thomas Paine

Godly Head Wounds

“But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such a one as goeth on still in his trespasses. The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea: That thy foot may be dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.” (Psalms 68:21-23)
Comment

If anyone believes these sadistic words come from God, then it might serve prudence to stay away from such people. For anyone who holds to such beliefs may very well do the same to others.

Godly Mass Murder

“And he smote the men of Bethshemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD, even he smote of the people fifty thousand and threescore and ten men: and the people lamented, because the LORD had smitten many of the people with a great slaughter.” (I Samuel 6:19)
Comment

Here we have just one more instance of God performing mass murder, a sadistic killer far worse than Hitler, Attila the Hun or Pol Pot.

These verses should insult the intelligence of any person who thinks that God possesses a loving nature.

One should not dismiss the Old Testament’s repeated demand for the vilest atrocities as something peculiar to the early Hebrews. Even today, our most atrocious wars, terrorism and hate crimes occur around the world based on ancient religious beliefs, many of them coming directly from verses in the Old and New Testament.

Kill All Unbelievers

“And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God…” (Deuteronomy 13: 5)

“If thy brother, the son of thy mother, or thy son, or thy daughter, or the wife of thy bosom, or thy friend, which is as thine own soul, entice thee secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which thou hast not known, thou, nor thy fathers;” (Deuteronomy 13: 6)

“Thou shalt not consent unto him, nor hearken unto him; neither shall thine eye pity him, neither shalt thou spare, neither shalt thou conceal him: But thou shalt surely kill him; thine hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.” (Deuteronomy 13:8-9)

“Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.” (Deuteronomy 13:15)
Comment

These severe laws commanded the members of the Hebrew religion to murder even their own children if they did not worship Yahweh (God).

These Bible words can justify, to a fanatical fundamentalist believer, the killing of friends or family simply because they may fail to change their beliefs.

Why anyone today would accept these words, much less allow them to exist in a sacred book goes against the nature of any tolerant and loving people.

Kill Man, Woman, Infant

“Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.” (I Samuel 15:2-3)
Comment

No matter how one can justify possible crimes from adults, suckling infants have no means of acting out crimes. And what evil against God could the animals have possibly performed? Only an evil entity could kill innocent infants and animals, no matter what their parents and owners may have done.

King David’s Holocaust

“And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under the axes of iron, and made them pass through the brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of Ammon. So David and all the people returned unto Jerusalem.” (II Samuel 12:31)
Comment

From the sacred scripts from the Bible we learn that the great King David carried out atrocities that rivaled the cruel acts from the holocaust of World War II. If we condemn the Nazi’s for their atrocities, why should we not do the same for David’s bloodthirsty actions?

Moses’ Mass Murder

“Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD. Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him. But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.” (Numbers 31:16-18)
Comment

Moses commands the murder of approximately 100,000 young males and, roughly, 68,000 helpless women.

Consider women and children of your own family: No matter how sick they may lay, or how they may go against a religion, how would you feel if a man named Moses, claiming to speak for God, sent men into your house and hacked to pieces the women and male children? Also, how would you react if they spotted a female child, dragged her off with them to do as they please with her? Note that these innocent virgins served for their own sexual pleasures.

Midian, the land of the Midianites, did not reside in an area regarded as a natural enemy of Israel for centuries, and in fact lay hundreds of miles away from the Israelite encampment. Moses, himself, had lived in Midian as fugitive after committing his first murder. In short, Midian presented no threat to God’s “Chosen People.”

Nail His Head!

“Then Jael Heber’s wife took a nail of the tent, and took an hammer in her hand, and went softly unto him, and smote the nail into his temples, and fastened it into the ground: for he was fast asleep and weary. So he died.” (Judges 4:21)
Comment

In verse 16 the Israelites surprise Sisera’s army and that “there was not a man left,” except Sisera who deserts his army and flees, a deed punishable by court martial today. Sisera then goes to the tent of Jael, the wife of Heber. Jael takes him in, hides him under a blanket, gives him milk to quench his thirst, and promises to stand guard at the door while he sleeps. Then Jael kills Sisera!

We see no telling of the slightest shame, but rather, Jael proudly flaunts her kill. The author of this piece of Scripture makes it clear that the passage represents a deed, not only as grand and heroic but also consistent with the will of God (see Judges 4:23).

Raping And Killing

“Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword. Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.” (Isaiah 13:15-16)
Comment

These verses foretold the deaths of the people of Babylon. Fortunately not everyone in Babylon (now modern Iraq) fell by the sword or had their children dashed to pieces or their wives raped (just another instance of errors in the Bible). How some people who believe in an infallible Bible can accept these verses as God inspired, or morally uplifting can only give evidence to the blinding nature of belief. For if we believe these words as God inspired, then the killing of children and the raping of wives must also come as an inspiration from the Supreme Being.

Shed The Blood

“And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made the man.” (Genesis 9:5-6)
Comment

Some anti-abortionists have used these words to justify the killing of abortionists. As such, these words helped inspire Michael Griffin to kill Doctor David Gunn on March 10, 1993.

Consider that the Bible never directly addresses abortion, much the less the condemnation of it. On the contrary, God himself has condoned, not only miscarriages, but has personally called for the killing of suckling infants and the bashing of children against the rocks.

(See Numbers 5:26-27, I Samuel 15:2-3, and Psalm 137:9)

Slaughter Of Innocents

“And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain.” (Deuteronomy 2:34)

“And we utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of Hesbon, utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city. But all the cattle, and the spoil of the cities we took for a prey to ourselves.” (Deuteronomy 3:6-7)
Comment

Such words helped give justification to mediaeval Crusaders who slaughtered men, women and children along their way to Jerusalem and stole the spoils of the cities. Even today, many Christian military men use Scripture to justify their actions. If any soldier harbors doubt about killing his fellow humans, he need only consult a military chaplain or read the Bible to calm their worries. Even George Bush (the First), with Billy Graham beside him, proclaimed the Gulf War as “moral.” George Bush (the Second) continued in his father’s steps by killing thousands of Iraqi civilians in the Iraqi war. Such moral wars result in thousands of “utterly destroyed” innocent men, women and children.;

(For a few more examples [but not all] see also Deuteronomy 3:3, 7:2, 20:16-17 , 25:19; Joshua 6:21, 8:26, 10-28-40; Numbers 31:17-18; I Samuel 15:3; Isaiah 13:16; and Hosea 13:16)

Slay Old And Young

“And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and smite: let not your eye spare, neither have ye pity: Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and woman: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.” (Ezekiel 9:5-6)
Comment

These words, commanded by God, orders the slaying of not only women and the old, but of little children. These accounts of cold-blooded massacres occurred simply because people refused to accept Yahweh. These phrases should give warning to anyone who knows a person who believes every word in the Bible.

For what sense of moral reasoning should we allow ourselves to admire such Biblical verses?

The Survivors

“Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads. And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.” (Revelation 7:3-4)

“And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.” (Revelation 9:3-4)

“And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty [and] four thousand, having his Father’s name written in their foreheads.” (Revelation 14:1)

“…the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins.” (Revelation 14:3-4)
Comment

Here we have the great future destruction where billions of people will die. Only 144,000 virgin Jews with a protective mark on their heads will survive. (I suppose the ‘Jews for Jesus’ cult would serve as the leading candidates.)

How many believers realize that this means the death of everyone on earth but a few virgin Jews? And this includes the destruction of all Christians! (Of course the alleged Jesus, a virgin Jew, who claimed only a few would enter heaven would agree with this).
Note: Of course faithful Christians cannot accept the 144,000 figure so they must either become atheists, ignore these verses, reject Revelation as just dream nonsense, or try to revise its meaning to something they can accept. Some try to get creative by claiming that Rev. 7:-9,”…a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues…,” means an unlimited number will enter heaven. Not so. The “all” in this verse speaks about all the tribes of Israel (the Jews) scattered around the nations of the world. The verse comes right after listing the tribes in Rev. 7:1-8. And man doesn’t name the number but rather the angel who speaks in John’s dream. And John reports the number, three times, in chapters 7 and 14, as shown above. Sorry Christians but all of you will have to suffer with all the atheists and unbelievers in God’s hell. Welcome to the club!

Beware of a future “Armageddon” caused by religious people. Belief in self-fulfilling prophesies creates self-fulfilling acts.

Utter Destruction, 1

“And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.” (Joshua 6:21)
Comment

These “God inspired” words give not a hint of mercy to innocent slaughtered women, children or the old.

After Moses and Aaron died, Joshua assumed command and the Israelites entered Jericho. Note that in the same siege, “all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the Lord: they shall come into the treasury of the Lord” (Joshua 6:19)

In the battle of Ai, the Bible tells that twelve thousand, the whole population of Ai, got slaughtered. (Josh. 8:25)

Note that many invaders throughout history have used such words as justification for wars and looting.

Utter Destruction, 2

“Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree: And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.” (Deuteronomy 12:2-3)
Comment

The Lord, here commands the destruction of all the places where people worship other gods. There appears not a shred of religious tolerance here!

“I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own– a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism.”

–Albert Einstein

(For other examples of utter destructions, see Numbers 21:2; Deuteronomy 3:6-7, 7:2, 13:15, 20:17, Judges 21:11, II Chronicles 20:23; I Kings 20-42; Isaiah 11:15, 15:3, 9, 18; Jeremiah 12:17, 25-9, 50;21, 26, 51:3; Daniel 11;44; Amos 9:8 )

Washing Feet In Blood

“The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance. He shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.” (Psalms 58:10)
Comment

How many “good” Christians realize that such a verse appears in the Bible? Of course most preachers keep these bloodthirsty words away from their congregations, and the few Christians who do come across these verses, re-interpret them for their own purposes, not realizing the impact these words can have on others. Unfortunately the few that take these verses literally can justify atrocities against anyone who they wish to define as “wicked.”

After having examined the above materials, you will have new insights into “what God teaches” and ‘what the Bible teaches”. I would hope a Catholic priest would teach love and compassion and try to bring to our country a sense of social justice and love and dignity to all. Gammy T has the right to teach whatever he wants in the context of freedom of speech.

Read the above again and think again what the Bible says and then decide on what sin is. “No doubt homosexual acts are gravely sinful,” has been stated in the discussion related to Gammy T’s hate-filled articles about homosexuals.

No. Homosexual acts when done between two adults who fully agree to these actions is as correct as people of different having sexual relations. Plus, it’s nobody else’s business. Go look in the mirror if you are bored.

Love, don’t hate. Love and acceptance will set you free; being negative toward gays will not, it will only make you more sinful and negative for sin is a desire to separate others from the kingdom of community and at them to channel all manner of negativity. We can only be set free when we are positive, compassionate, and kind. There are plenty of examples in Dumaguete City of the need for this. You’ll be faithfully busy if you practice this–compassion, humility, kindness…

Regarding the public scandal of theology in our society nowadays, I would like to add my opinion. If you’d like to know about the Credibility of the Bible,

here’s a link below for you to peruse so you can personally judge the accuracy and integrity of the Bible.

Before you agree to any variant of teaching, you must reflect to another explanation of a sound contrast about the Bible, to prove their integrity if they

are fitting to the knowledge of our liberal society nowadays. You be the judge and make a righteous judgment before believing anything you see or heard in

this tricky world.

The short pasages below is taken from the BibleProbe.org/credible.html

What does it say about the Bible interpretaion. “Interpretation, on the other hand, can be done by anyone. One can even dream up a doctrine and then hunt for

a scripture or two that seems to back this man made idea up. That the scriptures referred in this manner would be completely out of context with the rest

of the chapter or book does not seem bother them. The dependability of an interpretation depends on the knowledge, reliability and intent of the one doing

it. Of course the majority of those interpreting God’s word are sincere in their desire to understand. Just the same God has seen to it his message remains

intact by enacting a simple process of making the Bible itself the only truly reliable interpreter of His word. Interpretation of any other kind can be

related this way.

There is an old story of seven blind men who had never seen an elephant. One touched his leg and perceived the elephant as a tree. Another touched

his trunk and perceived it to be like a snake. A third only felt its ear and concluded it was like a palm leaf. Of course none where correct. The

elephant was like none of these things. To perceive a true picture each man would have had to examine all of the animal’s parts. The Bible is like the

elephant. To perceive a true picture, we have to examine all its parts not just a page here or a verse there.

Gods word includes a plan and purpose for the future. That man is a part of that plan is plainly stated throughout the Bible.

Isa 14:26-27 This is the purpose that is purposed upon the whole earth: and this is the hand that is stretched out upon all the nations.

27 For the LORD of hosts hath purposed, and who shall disannul it? and his hand is stretched out, and who shall turn it back? (KJV)

Therefore God has gone to the trouble of giving mankind the instructions he needs to understand and accomplish the purposes that God has included mankind in.

This is not only logical it is a rational form of thought. How could God expect man to do what he wants them to do, if He does not give man the

information he needs?

Why read the Bible? The answer to that is also a simple matter of logic. If you believe in a Supreme Being and you would like to be counted as one of

his people … than don’t you think you had better find out what HE wants you to do; not what someone else… thinks … he wants you to do. If on the

other hand you do not believe in God, or have not read or understood the Bible, then allow me to ask you a simple question. How can you possibly make a

rational decision … about something you have no knowledge of?”

Take heeds to what the Bible warns about the homosexual person in the City of Sodom and Gomorrah.

If you want to reflect to this scenario please read carefully the story below.

God loves us so much. And he has filled the world with wonderful things so we can know how good he is.

But wait a minute. Sometimes things aren’t so wonderful. People are mean to each other, and they hurt each other. Bad things happen.

But that’s not how God wants things to be.

That’s what sin does.

Sin is when we do what we want, instead of what God wants. And when we do, bad things happen. Sin ruins things. Someone always gets hurt. Maybe not right away, but someone always gets hurt sometime. And it only gets worse and worse.

But it’s not God’s fault, it’s ours.

But bad things happen, and people think it’s God’s fault. They think God can’t be good if bad things happen. And then they can’t believe God loves us.

That’s the terrible thing about sin. It keeps people away from God.

That’s why God hates sin so much.

Now, back in the days of Abraham, there were two cities named Sodom and Gomorrah. The people who lived there had turned away from God. They didn’t care about God. They didn’t care about doing what was good and right. In fact, they did just the opposite. They thought it was great fun to do what is wrong.

Abraham had a nephew named Lot. Lot and his family lived in the city of Sodom. They cared about God, and tried to do what pleased him.

Now, the evil in Sodom and Gomorrah was so bad that it was like a terrible, rotten smell that reached all the way up to heaven. And so God decided to put an end to it.

Remember the three men who had visited Abraham and told him he was going to have a son? After they had gone on their way they came to a hill, and from that hill they could see the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Remember, one of those men was God himself, and when he looked down on the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah from that hill, he knew it was time to get rid of the evil there. But he also decided he wouldn’t keep anything from Abraham. And so God went back and told Abraham what he was about to do.

Abraham took a deep breath. He was about to argue with God!

“What if there are some good people living there,” Abraham said. “If you destroy the city, they will die too. That wouldn’t be right.”

So God said, “If you can find fifty good people there, I won’t destroy the city. I will save the whole city for the sake of the fifty good people.”

Abraham took another deep breath, “You are God, and I am just a man,” he said, “And you don’t have to listen to me at all. But,” he said, “what if there aren’t quite fifty good people living there? What if there are five less than fifty good people living there. Will you destroy the whole city just because of five people?”

“If I find forty-five good people there,” God said, “I will not destroy the city.”

Then Abraham said, “What if there are only forty good people there?”

God said, “For the sake of forty, I will not do it.”

Then Abraham said, “Please don’t be angry with me, Lord. But what if there are only thirty good people there?”

God said, “I will not do it if I find thirty there.”

Abraham took a deep breath again. “What if there are only twenty good people there?”

And God said, “For the sake of twenty, I will not destroy it.”

Then Abraham said, “Let me speak just one more time. Please don’t be angry with me. But what if there are only ten good people there?”

God answered, “For the sake of even just ten good people, I will not destroy the city.”

So God sent two angels to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, to see if there were just ten good people there.

Abraham’s nephew Lot met the two angels at the gate of the city. (The angels looked like ordinary men).

Lot bowed to the ground. “Please come to my house and have dinner with us and stay the night.”

The angels said, “No. We will spend the night in the city square.”

Lot said, “No, please, come and stay with us.” Lot knew how evil the people in Sodom were, and that they would try to hurt the angels if the angels spent the night in the square.

So the angels went to Lot’s house and Lot made dinner for them.

Later that evening, in the dark of the night, the people of Sodom began to surround Lot’s house.

“Lot! We want to meet your guests,” they shouted from outside the door. “Send them out so we can say hello.” But they were lying. They really wanted to have fun doing terrible things to Lot’s guests.

Lot stepped outside the door to plead with his neighbors. “Please go away and leave us alone,” he said.

But these evil people crowded all the more around Lot’s house. They were laughing and shouting horrible things. They pressed so hard against the house; they were about to break down the door.

The angels reached out and pulled Lot back into the house and shut the door. Then they struck the men who were at the door with blindness so that they couldn’t find the door.

Then the angels said to Lot, “You and your family must leave this place. God is about to destroy it!”

So Lot went out to speak to the two young men who were going to marry his two daughters. He said to them, “We have to get out of this place, because the LORD is about to destroy the city!” But the young men thought he was joking.

It was a long night.

Early the next morning, in the pale light before the sun had risen, the angels said to Lot, “Hurry! Take your wife and your two daughters and leave this place, or you will die with everyone else!”

But Lot was so afraid he couldn’t move. So the angels grabbed him by the hand, and they grabbed the hands of his wife and of his two daughters, and they led them out of the city. As soon as they were safely out of the city, one of the angels said, “Flee for your lives! Don’t look back, and don’t stop anywhere in the plain! Flee to the mountains or you will be swept away!”

And then God rained fire onto the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah.

Thick, black smoke filled the air like smoke from a fiery furnace.

But Lot’s wife looked back - even though the angels warned her not to - and she was turned into a pillar of salt.

And so God wiped out the sin of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah. Sin is a terrible, terrible thing.

But God saved Lot and his two daughters.

Hope this story will give us a lesson how God hated sin though He love sinners that’s whey he is calling for repentance, in the book of Luke 5:32 “I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.”

2 Peter 3:9
“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Luke 13
Repent or Perish
1Now there were some present at that time who told Jesus about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mixed with their sacrifices. 2Jesus answered, “Do you think that these Galileans were worse sinners than all the other Galileans because they suffered this way? 3I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish. 4Or those eighteen who died when the tower in Siloam fell on them—do you think they were more guilty than all the others living in Jerusalem? 5I tell you, no! But unless you repent, you too will all perish.”

else, write the editor of NC and have your columns also, that you can say what you have under the sun.

that way you can do a rebuttal of whatever these other columnists are saying here. but please, spare the comments area of your plagiarism.

What’s with using the Bible to teach morality?

I am quoting from the Holy Bible, Genesis, Chapter 19, Verses 30-38.

30. And Lot went up out of Zoar, and dwelt in the mountain, and his two daughters with him; for he feared to dwell in Zoar: and he dwelt in a cave, he and his two daughters.

31. And the firstborn said unto the younger, Our father is old, and there is not a man in the earth to come in unto us after the manner of all the earth:

32. Come, let us make our father drink wine, and we will lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

33. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the firstborn went in, and lay with her father; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

34. And it came to pass on the morrow, that the firstborn said unto the younger, Behold, I lay yesternight with my father: let us make him drink wine this night also; and go thou in, and lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father.

35. And they made their father drink wine that night also: and the younger arose, and lay with him; and he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose.

36. Thus were both the daughters of Lot with child by their father.

37. And the firstborn bare a son, and called his name Moab: the same is the father of the Moabites unto this day.

38. And the younger, she also bare a son, and called his name Ben-ammi: the same is the father of the children of Ammon unto this day.

My vocabulary fails me in trying to comment properly upon this story. Just think of it! A father committing the sexual act with his own daughters and so drunk that “he perceived not when she lay down, nor when she arose!”

Is it possible that people really grasp the significance of this story? Are they aware of its gross debauchery? Can the minute details of this story be read without bringing a blush of shame to the cheeks of the reader?

Just a word to parents about this “Holy Book of God.” What would you fathers and mothers say if your daughter should read the Bible and come and tell you, in detail, of this revolting episode? It is needless to ask what you would do if she brought home another book in which a story of this kind appeared. You would admonish her never to pollute her mind with such filth. If that would be your action with a book of any other title than that of “Holy Bible,” to what depths of superstition have you sunk that you are so blind to its degrading influence?

Wake up, well-meaning parents, and become conscious of the obscenity to be found in this unwholesome book. A whole volume could be written about this story of Lot and his daughters, but at present we are only concerned with the act of incest.

This story of Lot and his daughters does not even contain a moral. The father to-day who is guilty of such an act is sent to prison. If he were so drunk that “he did not know when she lay down nor when she arose,” it would be so much the worse for him.

This story of the Bible is too revolting to dwell upon longer except once more to impress forcibly upon you the “high elevating moral standard of its pages.” I ask, is it possible for a person to read such a story, and then tell the innocent children of the race to read the Bible for moral inspiration and guidance? A story in which the very name of father is slandered, and where the pure blossom of womanhood is pictured in this degenerate manner.

Either the Bible is ‘absolutely’/'literally’ true or it is not. If it is not, then we have to guess/ interpret (choose your verb) what it means. If it is, then good luck in dealing with passages like those Bernice and Paul Blanco cite above. What we need to beware of is people who want to interpret it for us as a way to control us and get our money. I agree with the the Lutheran Church of Australia that believes sexual orientation is not controlled by the individual. This church does not condemn nor judge homosexuality and claims the Bible is silent on homosexual orientation. Homosexuals are welcomed into the congregation. In time, of course, the Catholic Church will change its position–it has been forced to change its position time and time again.

It’s nobody’s business what consenting adults do or how they behave if they aren’t bothering anyone else. I’ve never met a gay person who chose to be gay. Many are not happy being gay and that’s because others treat them badly and say bad things about them. This is wrong. We need to be kind and love each other–not beat each other over the head for being too fat, bald, childless, ‘natives’, illiterates, or whatever. Accepting gay people is one step in accepting ourselves. The anger in some of these postings is probably coming from people who sense homosexual urges in themselves, which is ‘natural’ and ‘normal’, are uncomfortable with it, and channel this discomfort in negative ways.
