HEALTH IS WEALTH
“The only way on earth to add and multiply happiness is to divide it with others.” – Anonymous
One of the precious unalienable rights of man is the pursuit of happiness. Everyone is familiar with the meaning of happiness with its synonyms: joy; gladness; delight; felicity; ecstacy; mirth; sense of well-being, etc. Every normal individual desires to experience discreetly happiness in this life. However, no one is purely happy in life for all of us are beset with virtually unending problems related to our human nature. Unfortunately young, mundane men would escape to “paradise” or seek instant pleasurable pursuits of which would generally end in tragic ending and regret later.
Psychologists state that happiness generally would depend on how truly mature a person is as well as his experiences in life, for instance, happiness in youth naturally diminish with time. Adolescent’s mood is quiet unstable and are prone to disillusionment. Their spirit of adventurism and frivolity could bring about unhappiness. They are still dependent on their parents for support. Children, on the other hand, experience as what psychologists term as “flight of joy”, but their kind of happiness is restricted and dependent in an adult world and therefore., short-lived and passing.
Children are said to be subjected to experimentations, selfdoubts and dismay. But they are spontaneous, very playful and their joys are honest and pure.
Psychologists claim that a person’s age of stability (maturity) is believed to be completed at the age of 35. At this period of life, the person is known to be emotionally stable as compared to most young adults (about 25) who are still adjusting to the threshold and many challenges in life.
Modern researchers discovered that happiness and health often go together. Their findings claimed that happy people don’t get sick so easily and if over they get sick they get well quickly. And happy people often seem to age more slowly and live much longer.
Eirch Fromm, the famous psychoanalyst claimed that “happiness is not a gift of the gods.
It is an achievement brought about by inner productiveness. People are happy when they succeed at loving, by building a liking for themselves for the right reasons.”
